One of the best ways to enjoy staying in Bali is by renting a villa in Bali. How easy though is it to do that though, what are the costs and how do you deal with entertainment? We have all that and more in our guide.
What the Bali?
To the blissfully unaware Bali is not just one of the most popular places to travel and play in South-East Asia, but also the world. An island of Indonesia it is famous for its beaches, culture and party scene.
It is though also a bloody big place being almost 6,000 square kilometers. This means that different places offer different things. There’s retreats and the like, there’s monkeys and cool party towns.
These include Sanur which gentlemen enjoy, Seminyak which is here the cool Instagram crew hangout and then there is Kuta where the party is at. It is also near to the airport and thus where we decided to stay.
I will do a Bali guide at some point, but for now I will leave you with this morsel. Bali might might be the worst place in Australia, but it is not without its charms.
The Hotel scene in Kuta
While the hotels of Medan are not all that cheap for some reason hotels in Bali and Kuta are insanely cheap and in line with those of Vietnam for example. This means gems such as the Best Western Kuta are just $25 a night. This is a place I will later blog about, but is one of my favorite hotels out there. Staff here are great and they are very open minded.
Others, which we sometime use on tours are decent enough, have a pool and can go for as little as $15 a night. Obviously hostel beds and dorms are much less.
Which led us to think, what about a villa?
Renting a Villa in Bali
OK, so to rent a villa in Bali, or rather Kuta the procedure is pretty much like anywhere else with booking.com and trip.com being largely devoid of decent options. This leaves you with the not so great, but reliable for villas AirBnB.com. If you want a villa, but do not have an account then just get one. None of these are referral links…..
So, what’s the best options and price range for villas in Kuta? Surprisingly good actually! Essentially Kuta and Bali are both strong economically meaning there is a decent middle class with money for nice houses. It also has the perfect weather for swimming pools.
Prices and standards depend greatly of course with low end stuff being around $100 a night, while a decent “party place” costs around $160 (we took this). Villas in Bali in general though can go up to $1000+ a night, which was alas out of my budget.
What did $160 bucks get me? Four rooms, a cute swimming pool, cleaners coming daily and a flexible attitude to us partying!
Hunkering down in your villa in Bali!
OK, so Bali and Kuta have great nightlifes if you like that kind of thing, but seeing as you have a villa then why not important everything? To tell this everything pretty much is done over Grab also known as Grab GoJek after what I assume was a merger. This is drink and food.
Now while Indonesian food is not all that good they do have a lot of western food like Burger King! They also have great Indian food in Bali, part of the large population here. And what about the party? Well while we were here on work trip the villa opposite us not only had a ferry but also people imported.
So, while they might not have great food in Indonesia, dem guys do know how to party!
