The Bottle Shop and The Sausage Man Abu Dhabi

The Sausage Man

I will not say anything bad about Muslims, or indeed the UAE, but there is something awry when the bottle shop and the Sausage Man are hidden away, but are still the busiest place on a Friday night.

I found this out after sating in Abu Dhabi to do some work and transit to Hainan and indeed the worst hotel there. These two establishments are very near the Sheraton, which at $60 a night is of great UAE value.

Pork, alcohol and the UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is full of expats and markets itself as a great place for tourists, ergo it must allow alcohol and as most of its expat staff are Filipino pork too.

The problem is it is a rather hypocritical place, so while the bars and the whores in them are front and centre, if you want booze, or pork, you will need to go too place that looks like a porno den, the bottle shop and the Sausage Man. Oh and to avoid any ambiguity the UAE and Abi Dhabi in particular are not at all liberal and you can be arrested for being raped.

The Bottle Shop Abu Dhabi

Located in a small shop with blacked out windows you feel like a criminal when you walk in only to find it is full of people even after 10. The booze collection here is pretty good, although nothing on the Christian quarter of Kurdistan. And there are lots of Filipino drinks, such as Red Horse and even Tanduay Rum

You are also served by Filipinos, which overall makes it a nice experience in my mind.

The Sausage Man Abu Dhabi

The Sausage Man Abu Dhabi like the bottle shop looks like apron den, or a dirt cinema, but is simply a convenience store that serves pork and it serves a lot.

Upstairs here you will see a whole floor pretty much of pork, ham, sausages, hence Mr Sausage and well any derivative of pork you could wish for.

But Mr Sausage doses not stop here, even having crackling such as Chicharon, the best available pork crisp from the Philippines. I picked up finger ham and lots of pork scratchings which went down well with my beer store goods.

And the funniest part? They even have signs saying “not for Muslims”, which I would not even expect in Raqqa. The UAE might be more liberal than most. But Big Brother in the sky is still alway watching yiou…..
