I have now decided that I will only recommend a hotel if ive been twice. Well I am happy to say that Summer Resort Kep has passed the second taste test.
And not only that, but Kep itself also survived the travel test, even on a very wet weekend in rainy season drenched Cambodia.
What the Kep?
Kep is small seaside town in Cambodia that is often an afterthought for those who travel to Kampot. This though is very much understating the place, with it not just offering a serene take on life, but some of the best seafood in Cambodia.

The Summer Resort Vibe
With around 50, or so rooms and a greta location inclusive of a great pool and small bar. Said bar also serves local firewater and overall this is a great place to stay if you are on a budget.
Rooms here range from small singles for under $30 and the huge poolside rooms with a balcony that run from $40-60 depending on time of year. If though it is the off season then come here and bargain rather than paying online.
Summer House Kep location
While there are lots of well priced “resorts” in Kep in reality the lack of Grab and indeed Tuk-Tuks in general make location more important here than in other locales.
Summer Resort Kep is just up the hill north from the Crab Market (the main thing to do) making it a straight 10 minute walk. This also means that it is just 20 minutes from the beach, quite literally the “other” thing to do.
In actual fact it is also next to Raingsey Bungalows, probably my favorite hotel in Kep, but also one that is a little bit more expensive.
Getting to Rabbit Island, not to mention further afield to Kampot is also easy to do from here.
