It is not everyday you meet a King, but this was something I recently managed with King David Peii II of the Twin Kingdoms of Papaala and Meekamui. Not heard of this place? We are not surprised.
Said achievement was managed on my recent Bougainville Tour with Young Pioneer Tours, among other fabulous achievements in one of my favorite places on earth.

What the Twin Kingdoms of Papaala and Meekamui?
I will surmise this very very quickly as there is a whole article on this place that I write for Young Pioneer Tours. In essence though this a Micronation, or New Country Project that controls a huge swath of land within Bougainville.
Bougainville itself is also no bed of roses having its own problems namely trying to get its independence from Papua New Guinea.
Within the Twin Kingdoms of Papaala and Meekamui there are allegedly weapons and even mercenaries prepared to protect the “Kingdom”.
How to meet King David Peii II of the Twin Kingdoms of Papaala and Meekamui?
I’ll be a little bit cryptic with this as it is one of those things where people read my articles to find out how to do my stuff and this is one of those things that is very much proprietary to the Street Food Guy. And I git this behaving not just connected friends, but by also pushing my luck, often to extreme degrees. Last year this got me to meeting the Finance Minster of the Kingdom’s Koch led to my meeting with the King.
There were though also other hoops that need to be jumped through involving accounts and the like. Of the morality of this I will deal with later.
You can read the full story of the Kingdom here.
You are meeting King David Peii II of the Twin Kingdoms of Papaala and Meekamui TOMORROW
LOng story short a few hours at the Kingdom and investments made we had an opportunity to meet the next day. That day we therefore did what anyone would do and that was stay close and get drunk on Paiawara.
We then came to the Kingdom where we waited “just over the border”. This was an exiting wait, but also a long one, with us making the choice not to visit Yamamoto in order to see His Majesty.
Eventually though the wait was very much other,
Meeting King David Peii II of the Twin Kingdoms of Papaala and Meekamui
Once things were ready we were escorted to a subset of the Kingdom where there was unarmed “army” guarding the inner area. And while there were guards and barbed wire it did not seem like an insurmountable task to breach.
We then signed in with the army before being taking to a waiting room. At this point we met not just the former Fijian mercenary, but a few guys who had really embraced the Cool Aid. They treated at least to pass on just how great the economics of the place were.
We were then taken to the Royal Residence
Your highness King David Peii II
After being taken in we were told how we should act with royalty before the King finally came out. He was very much dressed in his royal regalia which included a crown that said crown and shells that dangled in his eyes.
He then told us much about the Kingdom before opening the floor to questions. Various ones were asked such as relating to succession and the like, but for the most part we were given cryptic replies mostly relaying his economic views. He was though vert interesting and in the eyes of his people at least a King.
Is it right to visit King David Peii II?
With YPT and to a lesser extent for me as the Street Food Guy I have a position of permeant public neutrality. This does not mean I have no opinion, but that I feel engagement is more important.
Of course many people reached out to tell me their views, which I respect. The reality is though I want to go back.
