Is Shenzhen 7-Eleven any good? Overall one can say that it is not that bad and about standard for China. It is not though anywhere near the standards of Hong Kong – the regional grand daddy of the brand.
I writs this after having just arrived here from the aforementioned Hong Kong and after reviewing many a branch, such as in Xian, Beijing and of course Cambodia.
What the 7-11?
If you have not heard of 7-Eleven then you have issues! This is the most famous mini market from America, but in Asia it is very much its own thing. Yet even here there are different strands. The most popular of these is Thailand, who have spread to Cambodia.
Then there is Hong Kong, who again are not just unique, but are the food and drink budget option within the country (yes I said country). They have also spread, namely to Macao, with the products largely the same.
Other places such as South Korea and Vietnam have their own entries while China again is its own thing.
One day I will write an Asian guide to the best 7-11’s, but today is not that today.

What can you get at Shenzhen 7-Eleven
Overall they have a very decent spread off products. This of course includes the kind of Chinese stuff you would get anywhere in Shenzhen, such as Bai Jiu, but also a far more international flare.
Food wise this includes some seafood dishes similar to the ones you get in Thailand, nut really not enough to compete. For drinks they ahem all the Chinese awful beers, such as Snow, but also the one game changer drink and that is Soju. And while said drink can be gotten in other shops it is as of yet from a given in Shenzhen.
Other classic drinks include that great Chinese rip-off Rio! Of which they have both the bottles and cans. Bigger stores, such as at my bestest Best Western also have a fir bit of vodka.
They also have quite a lot of actual milk. This is the kind of thing that really gives me my jollies.
Street Food 7-Eleven Shenzhen
Shenzhen 7-Eleven actually has a broader range of street food than many of the streets around these parts. These include the :pissing meatballs”, hamburgers, chicken burgers, and a whole heap of Chicken.
Of course some of tis stuff is heated by a microwave, or at least tastes a hell of a lot like it, but hey dem the rubs.
Overall take on Shenzhen 7-11
Overall while this place is from the top echelons of the region web it comes to the brand, Shenzhen 7-Eleven does deliver. My “proof” on this is that while it is not “on fire” I still go here every night and spend money.
Therefore and much like other 7’11s the world over this trusted brand still delivers. I would give this a firm 7 out of 10. This puts it in line with Beijing and Kunming.
