The Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station Guide

Guangzhou Baiyun Railway

If you take the train from Guangzhou you can quite literally leave from any one of the 6 behemoth train stations. One of the newest of these is Guangzhou Baiyun Railway station.

Said station is theoretically near to the main airport and its street food, as well as being the main connector to a number of very important stations, such as Beijing.

Built for the future…

Guangzhou Baiyin Railways Station was opened in only 2023 with a part remit to take some of the heat off of Guangzhou Railways Station, as well as north, south, east and west. It is also to service the Baiyun district, which is where the airport is.

Does the city need this many stations? Well when you factor in the size of not just China, but the 25 million people Guangzhou the it starts to make a little more sense.

Currently its man purpose is linking Beijing with Guangzhou on the high speed railway with future plans to link it to Zhanjiang among other places. It is also connected to Shenzhen Railways Station directly and thus Hong Kong.

The Guangzhou Baiyun Railway look

In many respects the look here is typical of other Chinese trains stations built by the China Railways Contraction Corporation which amazingly won the “tender” for here.

This means that it looks like a 3 way hybrid of a train/air/extraterrestrial port. This is particularly evident when you look at the brightly colored UFO like building from outside.

What are the facilities at Guangzhou Baiyun?

Guangzhou Baiyun Railways station has a huge unused area, as well as more booths and staff you will see at the locales with a higher actual volume of people passing through.

As you would expect there are a decent array of ships here (selling nothing useful, many convenience stores and even KFC but alas no McDonalds.

Sadly this is where the facilities of Guangzhou, save plenty of chairs, a pure luxury when it comes to the railways of China.

In and around Guangzhou Baiyun Railways Station

Being an industrial area there is mot much “near” Guangzhou Baijun. There is though a small road just 10 minutes dive which is here I found the Zhengsheng Hotel. This was a very weird place that was inexplicably full of Africans, nice as much s they were.

There was though at least a bit of street food food to keep me going and overall I call it a a successful little side stop.

Overall I also consider Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station a more than decent option should you find yourself needing to travel from here….
