When it comes to fun places that are great value to stay then you really cannot beat Onederz Kampot. And this is for reasons not just linked to price, with it also being a great place to eat, drink and hang with the cool people.
One might even go as far as saying it is even the best of the whole Onederz brand!
What the Onederz?
Onederz Hotel has made a name for itself as one of Cambodia’s most reliable and affordable hotel brands, catering to backpackers and budget-conscious travelers. Launched in 2014, the brand started with a single branch in Siem Reap, aiming to offer comfortable and clean accommodation at prices that won’t break the bank. Its unique concept of merging a hostel and hotel vibe quickly caught on, and today, Onederz boasts a growing chain across Cambodia.
Currently, Onederz operates multiple branches in key tourist spots like Phnom Penh, Battambang, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. Each location offers dormitory-style rooms for solo travelers or those looking to make friends, as well as private rooms for those who want more privacy without the hefty price tag.
And then theres the social element which seems to attract 20 something backpackers. Do not let this put you off though, they are friendly enough and if nothing else make viewing of the swimming pool much more interesting. In my opinion Kampot is vastly superior to the other options, particularly Phnom Penh, but hey that is but my opinion.
Onederz Kampot rooms and facilities
Onederz Kampot is situated just north of all the action in Kampot and just a 10 minute walk from “town”. Action in Kampot consists of great bars, restaurants and even girlie bars! My personal top tip for dining is Kampot Seafood and Pepper.
There are cheap dorms here mixed, male and female which go for a few bucks, but should have an age limit of 30 on them…..
This moves to their twin and double rooms which are almost universally $20 throughout the year. The rooms are overall pretty simple, but for the price do a great job. Due to the price and popularity though rooms at Onederz Kampot fill up pretty fast.
The reception here offers a lot of tours and services, such as to Bokor Hill, Kep Crab Market and of course onward to Koh Rong, Phnom Penh and the like. I have also used here as a staging ground to get to Phu Quoc in Vietnam, which is done via Kep.
The Onederz Kampot Vibe
The Onederz Kampot vibe is set by the bar/restaurant and the swimming pool. Food here is very decent, but also of the hostel vibe with cheap western food and overpriced Khmer food. Breakfasts here are cheap, with the beers and cocktails also being decent.
Life is then lived by the pool with bikinis being the norm. Alas it is not just bikinis, but also slightly obnoxious behavior like people playing badminton, or worse beer pong. Yesterday I saw a euro of some description inexplicably doing pushups. So, while I might be of the miserable old man variety, if you are not then you will fins ready made people to hang out with, again if that is your thing.

It is located just 10 minutes palak from town on largely flat road, as well as being next to the newly opened Lucky Supermarket.
Also relatively near the Kampot Beer Festival, which is useful once a year!
